The name Yamabuki originates from a yellow-flowered Japanese rose. The origin of this variety dates back to 1947, when Mr Sawata Aoki presented the Yamabuki for the first time. He had been working on this variety since 1921. He developed the Yamabuki variety using the varieites Kin Kabuto, Konbo, and Ginbo.
Thanks to its extraordinary growth, in the years that followed the Yamabuki became the basis of numerous new varieties in the catagories Hikari Utsurimono and Hikarimujimono. Varities such as Gin Showa, Kin Ki Utsuri, and Kikukoryu all trace their origins to the Yamabuki variety.
